CERIS & CITUA PhD Student Fernanda Caroline Magalhães Selected as Finalist of the 3MT ULisboa 2026 Competition
PhD student Fernanda Caroline Magalhães, affiliated with CERIS and CITUA, has been selected as one of the finalists of the 4th edition of the "3 Minutos de Tese" (3MT) da ULisboa competition, joining the final group of 12 candidates from across the University of Lisbon.
The final will take place on 21 May 2026, at 17:00, at the Auditorium of the Pavilhão de Portugal. During the competition, finalists will face the challenge of presenting years of research work in only three minutes and with the support of a single slide, communicating complex scientific topics in a clear, engaging, and accessible way to a broad audience.
Fernanda Magalhães is one of four candidates from Instituto Superior Técnico to reach the final stage of this year’s edition, highlighting the strong participation of Técnico researchers and students in initiatives dedicated to science communication and public engagement with research.
The competition is integrated into the programme of Experimenta o Futuro, an event taking place from 21 to 24 May 2026, celebrating one year of the Pavilhão de Portugal as a space connecting the University of Lisbon with society through science, culture, innovation and interactive experiences. Throughout the four days, the programme will feature talks, demonstrations, exhibitions, performances and activities aimed at promoting dialogue between academia and the public.
The final session of the competition will have Jornal Público as media partner and will be streamed live on its YouTube channel, allowing a wider audience to follow the presentations and support the finalists.
The 3MT ULisboa competition has become an important platform for promoting communication skills among doctoral researchers, encouraging them to convey the relevance and impact of their work beyond the academic environment.
CERIS warmly congratulates Fernanda on reaching the final of the competition and wishes her every success for the final presentation!
