CERIS Researcher Hugo Rodrigues Nominated Pro-Rector of the University of Aveiro for 2026–2030
CERIS researcher Hugo Rodrigues has been nominated to serve as Pro-Rector of University of Aveiro for the 2026–2030 period, taking on new responsibilities within the university’s leadership team.
Hugo Rodrigues is Associate Professor with Habilitation at the Department of Civil Engineering of the University of Aveiro and a researcher at CERIS, with an internationally recognised academic and scientific career in the fields of structural engineering, seismic engineering and the resilience of structures and infrastructures. He obtained his PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Aveiro, where he later completed his Habilitation in Civil Engineering.
Throughout his career, he has developed extensive research on seismic behaviour and strengthening of structures, resilience and sustainability of the built environment, and innovative construction solutions. He has participated in and coordinated several national and international research projects, supervised numerous MSc and PhD students, and contributed actively to scientific dissemination through publications, conferences and collaborations with academic and industrial partners.
Alongside his scientific activity, Hugo Rodrigues has also played an important role in academic management and institutional development, contributing to the advancement of higher education and research in civil engineering in Portugal.
