Professor Inês Flores-Colen, a researcher from CERIS, was recently invited to speak on RDP Internacional’s podcast “Isto faz-se por cá” with João Bacalhau. The interview provided an excellent platform for Flores-Colen to discuss the Blocoyster project, a pioneering initiative focused on the development of sustainable concrete blocks.

The Blocoyster project was recently awarded at the 6th edition of Mares Circulares, an event promoted by the League for the Protection of Nature (LPN) and Coca-Cola. This project highlights the importance of sustainable construction materials and their role in protecting marine environments.

During the podcast, Inês Flores-Colen extended her gratitude to RDP Internacional for the invitation and thanked all the key contributors and partners involved in the project, including DECivil Técnico, CERIS, CERENA, CITUA, Instituto Superior Técnico, LPN, Coca-Cola, Cooperativa Viveiristas da Ria Formosa, Culatra 2030 – Sustainable Energy Community, Culatra Island Residents’ Association, Andre Pacheco – CIMA, CCMAR, University of Algarve (UAlg), and EEA Grants.

The Blocoyster project exemplifies collaborative efforts to innovate in civil engineering and sustainability, making strides toward a more eco-conscious future. The full interview is available on RDP Internacional’s website.
