Paper on Durability of GFRP Composites Wins Prestigious “Mirko Ros Silver Medal Award” at SMAR 2024

CERIS – Civil Engineering Research and Innovation for Sustainability > Awards & Distinctions > Paper on Durability of GFRP Composites Wins Prestigious “Mirko Ros Silver Medal Award” at SMAR 2024

At the 7th International Conference on Smart Monitoring, Assessment, and Rehabilitation of Civil Structures (SMAR 2024), held in Salerno from September 4 to 6, 2024, the paper “Durability of GFRP Composites Produced by Pultrusion under Thermal Environments” was awarded the esteemed “Mirko Ros Silver Medal Award” for its outstanding technical contribution in the field of Structural Rehabilitation, Repair, and Strengthening.

The research was co-authored by Omid Hassanshahi, Marco Jorge, José Sena-Cruz, Luís Correia, Cláudio Leite, Tarikul Hasan, João Ramôa Correia, Mário Garrido, and Susana Cabral-Fonseca. The paper involved collaboration between members of CERIS/DECivil (Tarikul Hasan, João Ramôa Correia, and Mário Garrido), the University of Minho, and LNEC. This work is part of the FCT project “Durable-FRP.”

The recognition highlights the importance of the research on the durability of Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) composites under thermal stress, contributing valuable insights for structural rehabilitation and the long-term performance of materials in civil engineering.
