CERIS Researcher Mónica Amaral Ferreira Contributes to “Vozes que Protegem” eBook on Risk Education
Mónica Amaral Ferreira, CERIS researcher, contributed to the eBook Vozes que Protegem – Coletânea de Entrevistas | Educação para o Risco (Voices that Protect – Collection of Interviews | Risk Education), a collaborative publication dedicated to promoting awareness of risk prevention, reduction and management.
The eBook was recently presented during the 7th International Congress on Risks, held at the University of Coimbra, and brings together interviews with national specialists from different fields related to civil protection, safety and risk education. The collection includes contributions from civil protection professionals, university academics and other specialists, offering diverse and up-to-date perspectives on the challenges of prevention, preparedness and safety.
Each contribution was developed in a videocast format, combining audiovisual content with educational activities designed to encourage reflection, consolidate learning and develop competencies related to risk education. The resources can be explored independently by students and can also support teachers in addressing risk-related topics, including within the subject of Citizenship and Development.
In her contribution, Mónica Amaral Ferreira highlights the importance of bringing scientific knowledge beyond the academic environment and transforming research and professional experience into accessible, inclusive and relevant educational resources. Her participation represents another example of how research and science communication can contribute to strengthening public awareness and risk literacy.
The publication is also available through the Portuguese Directorate-General for Education's educational resources platform, where Vozes que Protegem is presented as a resource addressing prevention and risk reduction through interviews with specialists.
The eBook is available free of charge and can be accessed here and on the website of Estudo Autónomo.
CERIS congratulates Mónica Amaral Ferreira on her contribution to this initiative and on helping to translate specialised knowledge into educational resources that promote a more informed, prepared and resilient society.
