Austrian Research Delegation Explores Collaboration Opportunities with CERIS

CERIS – Civil Engineering Research and Innovation for Sustainability > Awards & Distinctions > Austrian Research Delegation Explores Collaboration Opportunities with CERIS

On May 6-7, 2024, a delegation from Austrian Cooperative Research (ACR), comprising around 40 representatives from research institutes, visited Lisbon to explore potential partnerships with local institutions. Organized by Advantage Austria and the Austrian Embassy, the visit aimed to foster collaboration between Austrian R&D institutions and Portuguese research centers.

ACR, a network of private research institutions dedicated to providing applied research to companies—particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)—supports innovation and competitiveness. During the two-day visit, the Austrian delegation visited several research units and laboratories at Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) and CERIS, the Civil Engineering Research and Innovation for Sustainability center.

Professor Didia Covas, president of CERIS, alongside other CERIS researchers, presented the center’s cutting-edge research and introduced the delegation to the laboratory facilities. The exchange focused on identifying avenues for future collaboration and innovation.

The visit marks an important step in strengthening ties between Austrian and Portuguese research institutions, with the potential for future joint projects aimed at driving innovation in both countries.
