OSLO, NORWAY — Jéssica Bersch, a PhD student at CERIS, was honored with one of the Best Student Presentation Awards during the Net-Zero Future conferences held last June. Her award-winning study, titled “Marine-based Photocatalytic Protection of Building Envelopes on Behalf of Climate Change,” has garnered significant attention for its innovative approach to combating climate change impacts on building structures.
The conference culminated on June 21st with the award ceremony, marking the end of the 1st International Conference on Net-Zero Built Environment: Innovations in Materials, Structures, and Management Practices. Bersch’s outstanding presentation and research were conducted under the guidance of a distinguished team of supervisors: Inês Flores-Colen, Ana Paula Soares Dias, Denise Dal Molin, and Angela Masuero.
As part of her accolade, Bersch received a 1-year free membership to RILEM (International Union of Laboratories and Experts in Construction Materials, Systems, and Structures), providing her with valuable opportunities for further research and networking within the international scientific community.
This recognition highlights the significant contributions of young researchers in the pursuit of sustainable and innovative solutions for the built environment, reinforcing the critical role of academic research in addressing global climate challenges.
