Six CERIS researchers among the top 40 Engineering and Technology scientists in Portugal

Six researchers from CERIS have been recognised among the top 40 scientists in Engineering and Technology in Portugal in the Research.com Best Engineering and Technology Scientists 2026 ranking.

The ranking places researchers according to their D-index (Discipline H-index), a discipline-specific indicator based on publications and citations in Engineering and Technology. For the 2026 edition, the bibliometric data were collected on 12 January 2026, primarily from OpenAlex and CrossRef, and the profiles included in the ranking were manually verified by the Research.com team.

Among the 59 Portuguese scientists evaluated for inclusion in the Engineering and Technology ranking, six CERIS researchers are positioned within the national Top 40:

• Jorge de Brito – 2nd in Portugal, D-index 110
• João Ramôa Correia – 17th in Portugal, D-index 50
• Helena M. Ramos – 19th in Portugal, D-index 49
• Eduardo Júlio – 25th in Portugal, D-index 48
• José Dinis Silvestre – 26th in Portugal, D-index 46
• Fernando A. Branco – 39th in Portugal, D-index 41

The results highlight the strong scientific impact and international visibility of research carried out by CERIS researchers in the broad field of Engineering and Technology. In particular, Jorge de Brito ranks 2nd nationally and 75th worldwide.

The Research.com ranking aims to identify leading researchers within specific scientific disciplines, using bibliometric indicators to assess researchers’ scholarly impact. According to Research.com, inclusion requires a minimum D-index threshold and a majority of a researcher’s top-tier publications to fall within the Engineering and Technology field. The ranking also considers relevant awards and achievements, while the profiles undergo manual verification.

The presence of six CERIS researchers among Portugal’s top 40 Engineering and Technology scientists is a strong recognition of the research excellence and sustained contributions of the CERIS community to advancing knowledge and innovation in engineering.
