Pizza Seminar Highlights Research Pathways in Transportation Infrastructure, by Professor Heber Oliveira

On 19th of March 2026, in DECivil Museum, CERIS hosted one more Pizza Seminar titled “From Local to International: Research Pathways in Transportation Infrastructure at PETRAN/UFC”, delivered by Professor Francisco Heber Lacerda de Oliveira from the Federal University of Ceará.

The seminar presented an overview of the academic structure, research trajectory, and key outcomes of the Transportation Engineering Graduate Program (PETRAN/UFC), with a particular focus on transportation infrastructure.

Topics discussed included airport pavements and urban and road interlocking pavements, highlighting recent scientific developments and methodological advances in these areas.

The session also addressed structural, functional, and safety assessments, alongside economic analyses based on life-cycle cost approaches, contributing to more efficient and sustainable engineering decisions. Future perspectives were explored, emphasizing the importance of strengthening national and international collaborations and bridging the gap between research and professional practice.

The event provided an opportunity for attendees to engage with the presented topics and exchange perspectives during the discussion.

We would like to express our appreciation to Professor Francisco Heber Lacerda de Oliveira for delivering this seminar and for sharing his knowledge and experience with the CERIS and IST community.
