Pizza Seminar “Digitalization and automation of buildings’ demolition and recycling. Towards a circular economy in construction.” DISCOVER project

Last month, CERIS hosted a multi-disciplinary team of experts at our Pizza Seminar to present the DISCOVER Horizon project, an ongoing European collaboration working on circularity in the demolition sector.

The seminar presented robotic solutions for automated inspection tools and digitalisation of pre-demolition building information. 

The presenters highlighted the opportunities provided by these robotic advancements and digitalisation strategies to provide information to decision-makers regarding building typology and selective demolition options. 

The session then went on to examine the role of Life Cycle Assessment and Life Cycle Costing in the demolition sector, demonstrating how digitisation and robotic advancements can be used to support progress towards sustainable deconstruction strategies and circular treatment of demolition waste.
