Doctor Maria Concepción Pacheco Menor successfully completed her MSCA-PF and the Eco-Mortar 2.0 project
It has been a privilege to host Doctor Menor at Instituto Superior Técnico over the past two years. Her dedication to advancing sustainable construction has led to important achievements that bridge the gap between laboratory research and industrial application.
Key highlights of her work at CERIS include:
- Circular Economy Innovation: Developing high-performance thermal insulating mortars and wall panels by valorising industrial by-products such as diabase sludge, textile fibres, and recycled cork, alongside advanced aerogel nanomaterials.
- Environmental Impact: Validating measurable reductions in emissions and primary energy demand compared to traditional materials.
- Academic Excellence: Publishing high-impact scientific articles and presenting findings at four international conferences.
- Leadership and Mentoring: Successfully supervising international internship students from France and the Netherlands, contributing to the vibrant research culture at our institute.
As the project concludes, we look forward to strengthening the collaboration between CERIS and INTROMAC and to promoting continued innovation and applied research.
Congratulations, Concha, on this remarkable milestone! We are proud of your contributions to our research unit and look forward to your continued work in sustainable materials.
