The 5th Luso-Brazilian Congress on Sustainable Building Materials (5th CLBMCS) and the Construction 2024 Congress officially began yesterday, setting a dynamic start in the Grand Auditorium of the Congress Center at the Civil Engineering Building, Instituto Superior Técnico (IST). Distinguished figures from the academic and research community graced the opening ceremony, including Prof. Rogério Colaço, President of IST; Prof. António Pinheiro, Head of the Department of Civil, Architecture, and Environmental Engineering at IST; Prof. Dídia Covas, President of CERIS – Civil Engineering Research and Innovation for Sustainability; Prof. Jorge de Brito, President of the Organizing Committee; Prof. José Barroso Aguiar, President of the Advisory Committee of the 5th CLBMCS; and Prof. António Tadeu, President of the Advisory Committee of the Construction 2024 Congress.
The conference brings together industry leaders, researchers, and academic professionals to discuss sustainable innovations and advancements in construction materials. A vibrant technical exhibition is taking place in the North Atrium of the Civil Engineering Pavilion, showcasing an impressive lineup of companies, including HCI Construções, BRISA Autoestradas, MAP Group, TECNORÉM Engenharia e Construções, TPS Engenharia e Construção, MAPEI, DDN, S&P, SOTECNISOL, IMPERALUM, SAINT-GOBAIN, JULAR, KERAKOLL, DANOSA, SIKA, CONSTRUSOFT, LANDLAB, VALORPNEU, JetSJ, TOPOGIS, and the Forest Stewardship Council Portugal.
Adding a cultural touch to the academic gathering, the IST Traditional Singing Group performed during a welcome cocktail event in the Civil Engineering Building. The congress will continue at IST until November 8, promising engaging discussions, exhibitions, and networking opportunities for professionals committed to sustainable development in construction.
