Manuel Duarte Pinheiro is an Environmental Engineering (1985), with a PhD in Environmental Engineering with the title Environmental Management and Sustainable Construction (2008).

Is an Associate Professor at the Department of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Georessources, Technical Institute (IST), Lisbon University. Responsible for lectures in areas like Environmental Management System, Environmental Impacts, Ecodesign and Sustainable Challenges to Engineering.

Research Sustainable Built Environment (Environment Impact, Energy, Life Cycle Assessment, Life Cycle Costs), Ecodesign, Sustainable Assessment and Management.
