SUMMARY:Pizza Seminar "Generic Modelling Approach for Simulation of Structural Performance of Concrete under Various Damaging Factors with Mesoscale RBSM"
DESCRIPTION:CERIS is pleased to host a Pizza Seminar by Professor Ueda Tamon\, an internationally recognised expert in concrete and hybrid structures\, distinguished by an extensive academic and scientific career spanning several decades and institutions worldwide. \nProfessor Ueda obtained his Doctor of Engineering degree from The University of Tokyo in 1982 and has since developed pioneering research on the life cycle management of concrete and hybrid structures\, particularly focusing on durability\, structural performance\, and intervention strategies. Recognised among the World’s Top 2% Scientists in 2023\, he has authored more than 320 peer-reviewed papers and held leadership positions in major international organisations\, including fib\, IIFC\, ISO/TC71\, JCI and JSCE. \nIn this seminar\, Professor Ueda will present advanced modelling approaches for simulating the structural performance of concrete subjected to multiple damaging factors. The lecture will focus on the mesoscale Rigid Body Spring Model (RBSM)\, a numerical simulation approach capable of representing damage evolution in concrete under mechanical and environmental actions such as fatigue\, freeze-thaw cycles\, Alkali-Silica Reaction (ASR)\, Delayed Ettringite Formation (DEF) and steel corrosion. \nThe seminar will highlight how mesoscale simulations can support the development of macroscale material models to better predict the behaviour and durability of damaged concrete structures throughout their life cycle. \n\n\n\n\n🎟️ Participation is free\, but registration is required: REGISTRATION\n💻 Online transmission available: REGISTRATION

SUMMARY:PhD Symposium on Innovation for Sustainable Construction
DESCRIPTION:We are excited to announce a PhD Symposium on Innovation for Sustainable Construction\, organised within the framework of the EUTOPIA University Alliance\, under the Innovations for Sustainable Construction (I4SC) Connected Community\, and CERIS research unit. \nThis symposium will bring together PhD candidates and renown researchers working on cutting-edge solutions to advance sustainability in the construction sector. It is a great opportunity to share your research\, receive feedback\, and connect with an international academic community. \n  \n🔍 We invite PhD students to submit extended abstracts related\, but not limited\, to the following topics: \n\nDigitalisation and smart construction\nEco-efficient and compatible conservation\, repair and retrofitting\nEnergy-efficient and low-carbon design\nSustainable and circular construction materials\, products and technologies\n\n🌍 This seminar will take place in NOVA FCT on 6th July 2026 (afternoon)\, offering participants further opportunities to engage with the international research community. \n📅 Deadline: 31 May 2026 \nMore information: https:phd-symposium
