Paweł Tomczyk
Researcher
Specialist in the field of environmental protection and engineering. His main research interests concern the impact of hydropower plants on the quality of surface waters, the properties of bottom sediments and on hydrological conditions in rivers, together with the issues of minimizing environmental pressures and their modeling. He also has experience in research related to the implementation of innovative methods of improving water quality in water reservoirs, including their renaturation and monitoring environmental changes. In his research, he places great emphasis on the implementation of sustainable development goals, i.e. environmental, economic and social aspects. Participant of numerous conferences, courses and industry trainings, especially in the field of rational management of water resources, environmental monitoring and nature protection. Since 2018, he has been cooperating with KU Leuven in Belgium, where he took part in a 5-month research trip. In 2019-2022 he was an executive in the project "Innovative method for improving water quality in multifunctional retention reservoirs" financed under the BIOSTRATEG program (Polish National Center for Research and Development), and since 2022 he has been the manager of the project "Research on changes in water quality in river systems used for hydropower - modeling changes in the elements of the ecological state of waters" in the PRELUDIUM competition (Polish National Science Center). Currently, as part of cooperation with the University of Lisbon, he is carrying out a research internship (August 2024-January 2025) entitled "Research on the impact of hydropower plants on the water environment in terms of climate change" under the Bekker program (Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange).
