Teresa Frederica Tojal de Valsassina Heitor
Full Professor
Teresa Heitor received her Diploma in Architecture from Escola de Belas Artes de Lisboa (1982), a Masterr’s degree in Urban Design from Oxford Brooks University (1984), a PhD in Teritorial Enginering from Instituto Superior Tecnico, University of Lisbon in 1997 and Habilitation in Architecture in 2007.
She is experienced in architectural programming & briefing and post-occupancy evaluation, with a focus on educational and workplaces environments.
She uses innovative mixed methods approach and analytical tools, such as Space Syntax, to decode built space and understand its social & cultural meaning, to provide a comprehensive analysis of the design quality and its affect on users and to foresee functional outcomes.
Since 2005 she integrates the OECD Group of National Experts on Evaluation of Education Facilities (GNEEEF)
She is a member of the Space Syntax International Steering Committee
