Best Paper Award
The Direction of the Florence School of Regulation attributed the distinction of Best Paper Award to the work of Prof. Carlos Oliveira Cruz (co-authored with Prof. Joaquim Miranda Sarmento from ISEG), under the title "Reforming traditional PPP models to cope with the challenges of smart cities".
Professor Fernando Branco is the president of the International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering (IABSE), for the period 2016-2019. Founded in 1929, IABSE’s mission is to promote the exchange of knowledge and to advance the practice of structural engineering worldwide.
BEST PHD THESIS
Dr. Mario Alexandre de Jesus Garrido, CERIS researcher, received an honorable mention in the APMTAC 2016 Award, awarded by the Portuguese Association of Applied and Computational Theoretical Mechanics) for the "Best Thesis of Doctorate in Applied and Computational Mechanics 2016", with a Thesis entitled "Composite sandwich panel floors for building rehabilitation".
€2.9m EU project to support energy efficiency in the water industry in the European Atlantic Area
A €2.9m EU-backed project to foster the adoption of micro-hydropower energy recovery technology in built water networks in the Atlantic Area. To be developed with the cooperation of several institutions, the project Reducing the Energy Dependency of Atlantic Area Water Networks (REDAWN) has the participation of DECivil/CERIS (coordinate by Prof. Helena M.
